Please note that permission to reside in Cyprus does not imply
permission to work here. If you are to work here then a work permit
needs to be secured, either via an offshore company or, on rare
occasions a local employer.
Application for employment permits should be made by the prospective
employer of the Alien in Cyprus to the Migration officer in Nicosia.
The application must be submitted through the Aliens and Immigration
branch of the police of the district where the prospective employer
resides. The application should be accompanied by a short curriculum
vitae of the Alien, a contract of employment and copies of certificates
of the alien’s qualifications and experience in the field
of his/her proposed employment. He/she must secure the above, prior
to arrival in Cyprus.
Such applications are considered favourably only in cases where
the persons concerned are academically, or otherwise fully qualified
in a field in which there is shortage of supply of personnel amongst
the local population.
We would suggest contacting the Cyprus Embassy in England or the
Citizens Advice Bureau for advice about working out here. The 'Cyprus
Weekly' newspaper is sold in the U.K. and if you can get hold of
a copy, they have a section listing job Vacancies Island wide.
