| As in the U.K., all vehicles are driven on the left hand side.
Nowhere is far in Cyprus and the short distances between the major
towns have recently been further shortened by the construction of
an excellent highway network. Fairly well surfaced and modern roads
link the various towns and villages.
International road signs are in use and distances and road speeds
are in Kilometres and km/hour. Drivers are advised to wear sunglasses
due to the sometimes intense brightness of the clear Mediterranean
sky.
As a visitor in Cyprus you may drive a vehicle so long as you have
a current driving licence which is valid for the type of vehicle
you intend to drive. If you are residing in Cyprus on a more permanent
basis and wish to drive for a period exceeding six months, you must
apply for a Cypriot driving license at a cost of CYP 35.00 for a
lifetime.

Service Taxis
There are service taxis in Cyprus, which connect
the larger towns. These are scheduled to run a variety of routes
on a regular basis and are less expensive than regular taxi services.
Rather than paying for the hire of a private taxi, you would pay
per person; therefore you may share a taxi with others. This is
a door to door service as they will pick you up and drop you off
wherever you want!
These taxis are scheduled to run from 6.00am in the morning and
throughout the day (half hourly) until 6.00pm in the evening. The
prices range from Cyp 4.00 - Cyp 10.50 per person
(depending on the distance of your journey).

and are scheduled to run a variety of routes on a daily basis at
specified intervals. Rural buses connect the towns and outlying
